Love is a multifaceted term in this world! The word love is jostled around like as if there is no meaning left to it! Love is one word, that literally defines our very nature, behaviour, talks and our mindsets!

It’s one word that wraps everything together!

It’s rightly said “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony- Colossians 3:14”

It’s the The factor, the binding agent between the works you do and your mind behind it! It’s the The factor, behind the pretence play and the real you! It’s the The factor behind the knowledge you have and how well you apply it!

It’s rightly written when said “what good is all what we do and achieve without love it’s nothing !” (1 Corinthians 13)

It’s the greatest virtue, it’s the greatest characteristic of God! And we being the image of God, we need to work on this area more than ever!

Many times we say we love, but do we really love? The characteristics of love is clearly mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13. Let’s walk through it, reading aloud each statement very clearly in our mind.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Many a times as kids we struggle so hard to forgive our parents for all the folly they have done in our childhood, we truly don’t love them, cause love doesn’t keep record of wrongs !

Many a times we lose our patience with our kids, and scream out in anger, we are truly not loving them at that moment, cause love is patient.

Many a times we get a tinge of jealousy within our heart at the success of our dear fiends and family members, let’s revisit our love for them, as love does not envy!

Many a times we shout out or say words that are not uplifting but will pull someone down miserably, we are still not in the right place, cause love does not dishonour!

Many a times, we say we love our spouses and we say they are the one person we have immense love in our heart for, but they just have to do or say one wrong thing and we flare up like atom bombs! At that moment, where is the agape love, cause love is not easily angered!

Love protects, next time when someone does something to protect you, look at it with love and not as a “curbing nature” cause love protects!

Love trusts, it’s easy to say and it’s difficult to do in many different levels! Sometimes for reason super plain, right in front of us, but when we love, we need to trust the persons heart, we need to trust that they will do the right thing for us. When we truly love someone, with the godly love, we will trust them with the godly trust! Cause our help is not from man, but from God.

Whenever we reason with ourselves whether or not we can fully love our fellow humans around us remember this

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever” 1 Chronicles 16:34

It actually means, give thanks for the fact that God is so good, that his nature “love” is willing to endure all our wrong doings forever!

As we as humans are created in God’s image, every nature of God is in us, we need to dig deep and build on it! The first foremost of it all is “love” , the Bible says, nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, like literally nothing! Let’s surround ourselves with that love, and learn and grow to reflect that love to many others!

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Many a things are strongly said about love in the Bible, but it made me wonder, is love really such a difficult thing to have ? The devil surely wants us to believe that it is. Let’s break that barrier, let’s break that bondage and start loving and looking at everyone around us with a Godly love! Let’s not reason negatively, let’s not shout not knowing and trusting the other person situations, let’s not judge blindly, let’s not throw people out of our lives so easily, let’s not hurt easy, let’s not speak harshly, let’s not devalue people, let’s not condemn people, lets be slow to anger, let’s speak life and happiness, let’s love with an AGAPE Love.
